Men’s Basketball: Raiders Hold Off Warriors

A pair of Malik Mooving free throws allowed Central Community College men's basketball team to close out the regular season with an 82-79 victory over Little Priest Tribal College on Monday night.

The Raiders played strong in the first half and went to the locker room with a 38-30 lead. The Warriors picked up the offense in the second half and was in position to take the lead with time winding down before Mooving's free throws. LPTC had a shot to tie the game with a last-second three-point attempt, but it fell short.

Garrett Sittner was atop the scoring leaderboard for the Raiders with 21 points, followed by Mooving's 20 points. Latrell Talley logged a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

With the win, the Raiders finished the 2017-18 regular season with a mark of 14-16.

Up next, CCC will take on Southeast Community College in the Region IX Tournament championship game on Saturday in Beatrice. The Storm are 4-26 on the season and the teams split the regular season meetings. CCC won the first game, 89-81, on Feb. 2, while SCC took the second game, 88-71, this past Sunday. Tip-off for Saturday's championship game is at 7 p.m.
