Men’s Basketball: Hawks Sweep Raiders

The Central Community College men's basketball team lost to Northeast Community College, 96-87, on Wednesday night at Raider Fieldhouse. With the win, the Hawks won the season series with the Raiders, 2-0.

In the first half, CCC found itself on the short end of a 16-2 run, but was able to trail only one at halftime, 45-44. Both teams shot 50 percent or better, but Northeast was able to hold on for the win.

Malik Mooving (pictured) led five CCC players in double figures with 18 points, while Bennett Nelson was right behind with 17 points. Latrell Talley and Zack Rice-Gordon each scored 13 points, while Diamond Jones finished with 10 points.

The loss gives the Raiders a 13-15 mark on the season, while the Hawks are 14-15.

Up next, the Raiders will travel to Beatrice for a conference clash with Southeast Community College. The Storm are 3-26 on the season, with CCC winning the last match, 89-81 in Columbus earlier this month. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
