Men’s Basketball: CCC Upends Dakota Wesleyan JV

The Central Community College men's basketball team shook off a slow start en route to a 100-87 victory over Dakota Wesleyan JV on Sunday at Raider Fieldhouse.

The Raiders fell behind by 10 points early on before tying the game at 35 apiece. CCC then took off on a 26-8 run to close out the first with a 61-43 advantage at halftime. It marked the second time this season that the Raiders had scored 61 points in the first half. The momentum continued in the second half as CCC went up by 24 points before the Tigers went on their own offensive run and cut the CCC lead to 11 points. However, that's as close as it got and the Raiders went on to the win.

"Our offensive execution was tremendous," said CCC head coach Jerry Drymon. "We have been struggling offensively so it is nice to be able to shoot well and get a victory. I hope this will create momentum for us the rest of the way."

Four CCC players scored in double figures with Malik Mooving and Zack Rice-Gordon leading the charge with 24 and 23 points, respectively. Jaxon Simons logged 17 points, while Garrett Sittner chipped in 13 points.

The win gives CCC a mark of 8-11.

Up next, the Raiders will take on Doane University JV on Thursday, Jan 25, in Crete. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
