The Central Community College men's basketball team lost to the top-ranked Southwestern (IA) Community College Spartans, 95-89, in opening round action of the Pinnacle Bank Classic at Raider Fieldhouse on Friday night.
CCC came out strong by building a double-digit lead in the first half before Southwestern battled back and trailed 54-51 at the half. In the second half, CCC again got off strong before the Spartans took the lead for good and held on for the six-point win.
Malik Mooving and Zack Rice-Gordon led four players in double figures with 20 points apiece. Latrell Talley tallied 17 points, while Garrett Sittner chipped in 11 points.
The Raiders are now 3-4 heading into Saturday's contest against York JV.
