Men’s Basketball: Tritons Hand CCC First Loss

The Central Community College men's basketball team lost its first game of the season with a 98-92 setback to Iowa Central Community College in the first round of the Hawks Classic in Norfolk.

The Raiders struggled offensively as they were held to 44 percent shooting and down by 19 points at one point in the second half. However, CCC battled back and got to within four points with two and a half minutes remaining, but Iowa Central had just enough to hold on for the win.

Four CCC players finished in double figures. Malik Mooving led the way with 27 points, while Bennett Nelson posted 20 points. Jaxon Simons totaled 16 points and Zack Rice-Gordon chipped in 13 points.

The Raiders are now 3-1 on the season heading into the second round of the Hawks Classic on Saturday. CCC will take on Iowa Lakes Community College at 2 p.m.
