Four Raiders Earn Postseason Honors

The Central Community College men's basketball team features four players who earned postseason honors for 2016-17.

Logan Fleming, Marco Fabietti, Jerome Dixon and Ruben Fuamba made the All-Region IX team.

Flemming and Fuamba were named to the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference team, while Dixon earned Honorable Mention honors.

Fleming led the Raiders in scoring with 19.0 points per game. He averaged 6.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Fleming also topped CCC at the free throw line, where he shot 87 percent (132-152). He led the Raiders in scoring in 15 games and rebounding in seven games.

"Logan had a spectacular year," said CCC head coach Jerry Drymon. "He is a well-rounded player who did a lot of things really well. I think the most surprising stat for him is how good of a rebounder he was. It just shows how competitive he is and his desire to win."

Fabietti was CCC's top three-point shooter this season at 51 percent (61-120). He averaged 15.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 4.0 rebounds per game. Fabietti was the leading scorer for the Raiders in six contests.

"Marco made a tremendous jump from his freshman to his sophomore year," said Drymon. "He really spent a lot of time perfecting his shot and I think it showed this year. He was third in the nation in three-point shooting percentage for players attempting 100 three-point shots. He is one of the best pure shooters I have coached."

Dixon played in 31 of 32 CCC games this year, averaging 14.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and a team-best 5.5 assists per game. He also sported a 2.4 assist-to-turnover ratio and posted a team-high 54 steals.

"Jerome had some great games for us this year," said Drymon. "He has a terrific first step and became one of the top assist guys in junior college.  He has a competitive nature and wasn't afraid to make the big play at the end of the game."

Fuamba averaged a double-double for the season with 12.7 points and a team-high 10.7 rebounds per game. He led the Raiders in field goal shooting with 60.1 percent (140-233) and 44 blocks. Fuamba led CCC in rebounding in 20 games and scoring in five games.

"The amount of growth Ruben has shown since he got here is tremendous," said Drymon. "He has improved in so many areas and he has so much more growth ahead of him. Ruben had several games this year where he just dominated the rebounding stats. It will be hard to replace him next year."

The Raiders finished the 2016-17 campaign with an overall mark of 18-14 and won the Region IX championship before falling in the District VII title game.
