CCC Pounds the Glass in Win Over York JV

The Raiders hauled in 57 rebounds in a 106-75 home win over York JV on Tuesday night. The rebounding prowess played a big part in CCC's defensive scheme as it held York to 28 percent shooting in the first half.

"I thought we played an excellent first half defensively," said CCC head coach Jerry Drymon. "Holding a team to 27 points and 28 percent shooting from the floor is great. When you limit teams to one shot, you can be a good defensive team."

Of CCC's 57 rebounds, three players accounted for 34 boards, with Logan Fleming totaling 14. Cole Nickels and Ruben Fuamba pulled down 10 rebounds apiece. York was held to 31 rebounds for the contest, with Ross Frame and Josiah Ahert tallying six rebounds apiece.

"To have a Logan grab 14 rebounds is tremendous," said Drymon. "We expect Ruben to get a lot of rebounds, but for us to have success our guards have to help out. We are an undersized team so rebounding is a key."

Offensively, the Raiders rattled off a 19-3 run at one point and built a 36-point lead. Five CCC players scored in double figures, with Jerome Dixon leading the way with 24 points. Fleming helped out with 19 points, while Fuamba finished with 18. The Panthers had two players score in double figures with Johnathan Bell logging a game-high 31 points. Frame added 13 points.

CCC will return to action on Thursday night at as Hastings JV comes to Raider Fieldhouse for a 6 p.m. contest.
