COLUMBUS — Behind Bobby La'Ge's 38 points, the Raiders improved to 3-0 with a victory over the Lancers.

The Central Community College men's basketball team beat the Mount Marty JV 108-78 Tuesday at the Raider Fieldhouse.

With the Raiders and Lancers trading leads, a 14-0 Central run late in the first half helped push the Raiders ahead.

"I thought our intensity, defensively, picked up," Central head coach Jerry Drymon said. "We need to create tempo — we need to get up and down the floor. We don't have a huge team so we have to rebound the ball and I think we got a few steals in that time frame, as well. We started helping down in the post and that created some transition buckets and then I think we're pretty good in transition, it's just a matter of getting to the point where we get stops."

Central led 58-45 at the half.

"I felt like the last three or four minutes of the half, we started to play better," Drymon said. "We built a lead and talked about how we had to step up defensively in those first few minutes (of the second half)."

The Raiders were able to roll in the second half as the Lancers couldn't get within range.

"Defense was the biggest key. We started communicating at a higher level. We were making switches where we were supposed to be switching, help-side defense became better and some of our guys, we're starting to see progress defensively," Drymon said.

Central outscored Mount Marty 50-33 in the second half.

La'Ge shot 13 of 16 from the field during his 38-point performance, adding five assists and four rebounds.

"I thought he was really aggressive going to the basket," Drymon said. "That's where he has to succeed. He's a hard guy for many people to defend and he finished a lot better tonight than he had in the past couple games."

Central's Bryant Nolan scored 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

The Raiders host the CCC Classic Tournament Saturday and Sunday.
