Esports: Weekly Recap, Feb. 20-25

The Central Community College Esports team went 2-1 for the fourth week of February. A recap of each contest is below.

St. Clair College Academy 3  CCC 0 (Feb. 20)

The Saints defeated the Raiders in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, 4v4. According the CCC head coach Lucas Lumbra, the match was incredibly hard fought, including a 6-5 loss on the second map, "Fortress and Destroy."

"The first two maps each came down to the final seconds, with St. Clair coming out on top in both," said Lumbra.

St. Clair College of Applied Arts and Technology is located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and the word "academy" in the team title is the equivalent of a junior varsity team.

CCC 3  Centralia (Wash.) College 1 (Feb. 20)

Following the loss to St. Clair College, the Raiders bounced back with a Rocket League victory over the Trailblazers of Centralia College.

After falling 2-1 in the first game, CCC won three straight games to take the series.

"This match was very close, all but one game was decided by a single goal," Lumbra said.

CCC 3  Dawson (Mont.) Community College 0 (Feb. 23)

The Raiders dominated the Buccaneers from start to finish in the Call of Duty: Gunfight 2v2 shutout victory. Lumbra pointed out that one of the Dawson players struggled with connection issues and was frequently kicked from the game, which provided CCC with a player advantage on some of the maps.

"The technical difficulties combined with dominant play from Zack Hollingsworth and Justice Silver resulted in the three-map sweep," said Lumbra.
