Volleyball: CCC Wins Three at Northeast Tourney

The Central Community College volleyball team went 3-1 at the Northeast Tournament in Norfolk. A brief recap of each match is below. The Raider are now 6-3 on the season. CCC will return to action this weekend at the Kirkwood Invitational in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Match 1 vs. Williston State College

The Raiders swept the Tetons in opening round play. The final scores were 25-13, 25-9, 25-14.

Maddie Walkowiak led CCC in kills with 11, while Rylee Kwapnioski tallied 33 assists. Devyn Erickson finished with 11 digs to go along with three aces.

Match 2 vs. North Dakota State College of Science

CCC defeated NDSCS in four sets. The Raiders won the first two games – 25-14, 25-17. The Wildcats got on the board with a 25-23 win in the third set. However, CCC won the fourth game, 25-18, to take the match.

Shania Borchers and Walkowiak each logged 13 kills. Kwapnioski recorded 44 assists, while Kamri Adler posted 28 digs.

Match 3 vs. Lake Region State College

The Raiders picked up a four-set win over the Royals in Saturday's opening round. CCC took the first game, 25-21, while Lake Region won the second set, 25-20. The Raiders outlasted the Royals in the third set, 34-32, before closing out the match with a 25-11 victory in the fourth game.

Walkowiak made 10 kills, while Kwapnioski logged 35 assists. Lydia Permenter totaled a team-high 25 digs, while Walkowiak finished with 21 digs.

Match 4 vs. Fort Scott Community College

The Greyhounds swept the Raiders – 25-16, 25-18, 25-21.

Permenter and Walkowiak each made seven kills, while Kwapnioski made 23 assists. Adler finished with 23 digs.

"I was really proud of the girls' tenacity and energy this weekend," said CCC head coach Abby Pollart. "We had to push through some adversity which gave this group the opportunity to step up and get the job done."
