Women’s Soccer: CCC Gets First Win Over SCC

The Central Community College women's soccer team recorded its first victory in program history over Southeast Community College, 2-1, at Raider Field on Wednesday.

The Storm scored the game's first goal in the 15th minute to go up 1-0 and maintained the lead through halftime. CCC scored its first goal with just over 28 minutes remaining when Steph Adby scored an unassisted goal to make the score 1-1. The stalemate continued until 12 minutes remaining in regulation when CCC's Hali Eddy found the back of the net off Adby's assist and the Raiders were up 2-1. CCC clamped down defensively and held SCC scoreless the rest of the way to get the one-goal win.

"They're a good team," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "They do some good things, and it just took us a while. It's nice to get our first win over Southeast, especially in Region 9 play."

The win gives the Raiders a 4-4-1 mark as they return to the road for a Saturday contest at Pratt (Kan.) Community College. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
