Women’s Soccer: CCC Shuts Out Hesston

The Central Community College women's soccer team shut out Hesston College, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Raider Field.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes and contest was scoreless at the half. One minute into the second half, CCC's Lucia Kreysing scored on a penalty kick to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead. Some 20 minutes later, Steph Adby (pictured #14) made it a 2-0 advantage when she kicked the ball from the corner, and it went untouched into the goal. The Raiders were able to hold the Larks at bay for the 2-0 victory.

CCC goalie Hannah Beach started and totaled five first-half saves while Natalie Crouse was in goal for the second half and made nine saves.

"I am just real proud of the girls' effort today," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "We battled the wind during the first half, didn't give up a goal and scored two goals early in the second half. It was nice to rebound after a couple of losses and get back on the winning side of things."

With the win, the Raiders improve to 3-3-1 and will return to Raider Field on Saturday to host Allen County (Kan.) Community College. Kickoff is set for 12 noon.
