The Central Community College women's soccer team logged the first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over the College of St. Mary JV on Wednesday at Raider Field.
Janette Ortiz scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 68th minute with Hannah Beach assisting. CCC's defense was able to hold on as goalie Natalie Crouse logged two saves to post the shut-out win.
"It's a win and that's all that matters," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "We got a little bit lucky on the goal, but we created our own luck. I was happy with the way the team played, especially in the second half."
The Raiders have a season mark of 1-1-1 and will return to action Saturday at Iowa Lakes Community College. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
