Women’s Soccer: Raiders Fall to Storm

The Central Community College women's soccer team lost to Southeast Community College, 4-1, on Wednesday at Raider Field.

The Storm scored three goals before Laura Jovanovic scored CCC's first goal in the 35th minute with Hannah Beach on the assist. SCC led 4-1 at the half and added one more goal in the second half to make the 4-1 final score.

CCC goalie Natalie Crouse logged seven saves on the day.

"It's kind of like Déjà vu all over again," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "We played well in the first half, but ran out of gas in the second half. The minute we get a player back from injury, we lose another for something. It's been a challenging year, but I am extremely proud of the effort the girls have put in, both on and off the field."

The loss gives the Raiders a mark of 2-10 as they head into a stretch of five games in 10 days.

"That is a lot to ask of any size roster, let alone ours, but we are going to fight until the end," said Bennett.

CCC will welcome Pratt (Kan.) Community College to Raider Field on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. This will be the first meeting between the clubs as last month's scheduled meeting in Kansas was postponed.
