Central Community College women's soccer is pleased to announce the signing of Janet Cortez, a senior at Northeast High School in Lincoln.

Cortez played back line defense for the Rockets.

"I am thankful for this opportunity," said Cortez. "I can now say I am the first in my family to attend college and pursue my athletic career."

Cortez was coached by Jose Hidalgo and Rebecca Hiller at NHS.

"I really like Janet's size and athleticism," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "Her versatility is also a huge asset with her being able to play anywhere on the back line or as an outside midfielder."

Cortez will major in criminal justice at CCC. She is the daughter of Jose Cortes and Teresa Puentes of Lincoln.
