Women’s Soccer: LCCC Defeats CCC

The Central Community College women's soccer team lost to Laramie County Community College, 9-1, on Saturday at the Raider Soccer Complex.

The Golden Eagles scored the first goal of the game in the 17th minute for a 1-0 lead. CCC's Katie Grieser evened the score at 1-1 with an unassisted goal in the 31st minute. The scoring remained quiet until the 10:42 mark of the first half when LCCC rattled off four goals over the next nine-and-a-half minutes to take a 5-1 lead into halftime.

LCCC added four more goals in the second half to register the final score of 9-1.

"Obviously, they're number 4 in the country for a reason," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "We played as hard and as well as we could for the first 35 minutes. I'm proud of the effort. The girls played against an elite team and they played hard."

The loss is the fourth straight for the Raiders, who are now 5-7 on the year.

CCC returns to action on Tuesday with a road venture against Concordia JV. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
