Women’s Basketball: CCC Falls at SCC

The Central Community College women's basketball team lost at Southeast Community College, 88-47, on Saturday.

The Raiders had a slight edge at the end of the first quarter, 14-13. The Storm took control in the second period with a 29-9 performance to take a 42-23 halftime lead. Southeast had a near repeat performance in the third quarter, outscoring CCC 31-11 and cruised to the victory.

"In the first quarter, we came out with energy and hit some shots to get us going," said CCC head coach Kasi Stoltz. "After that, we really struggled to make shots from field and had too many turnovers which led to some easy transition buckets for them. Hopefully, we will learn from this game and be ready to match Southeast's intensity the whole game next time we play."

Nikie Nelson finished with a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

With the loss, the Raiders are 8-10 on the season heading into Tuesday's match at Midland University JV at 7 p.m. The Raiders defeated the Warriors, 81-59, on Jan. 16 in Columbus.
