Women’s Basketball: Raiders Sweep Lady Storm

The Central Community College women's basketball team defeated Southeast Community College, 63-46, on Saturday in Beatrice. The victory gives the Raiders a two-game sweep over the Lady Storm in the season series.

CCC employed a stifling defense that held SCC to 10 points in the first quarter and two points in the fourth period. The Raiders also limited the Lady Storm to 29 percent (18-62) field goal shooting and 12 percent (2-17) in three-point shooting. CCC outrebounded SCC, 49-32.

"I am very proud of our defensive effort," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "It was a solid team effort."

Monica Brooks finished with a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds. Isabel Diaz also scored 16 points, while Jasmine Williams posted a dozen points.

The win snaps a two-game slide and gives the Raiders a mark of 12-13.

CCC will close the regular season on Tuesday with a home game against Concordia JV. This will be the third meeting between the Raiders and the Bulldogs with Concordia JV having won the first two. Tuesday night's tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at Raider Fieldhouse.
