Women’s Basketball: Broncos Get By Raiders

The Central Community College women's basketball team lost to Hastings College JV, 83-73, at Raider Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.

The Raiders and Broncos were close early as CCC held a 19-14 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Hastings got going in the second period, outscoring the Raiders 28-15 for a 42-34 lead at the half.

The Broncos kept the momentum going in the third quarter as they outscored the Raiders, 21-15, for a 63-49 advantage at the end of the period. CCC found an offensive spark in the fourth period, pulling to within single digits twice, but the Broncos pulled the plug both times and went on to the 10-point victory.

Hastings won the overall rebounding battle, 46-44, but 25 offensive boards made the difference.

"We didn't do a good job of blocking them out and being able to give them one possession," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "We've got to work on the defensive end and make sure we don't give up those second and third shots."

Three CCC players scored in double figures with Monica Brooks leading the way with 25 points. Jasmine Williams scored 15 points, while Isabel Diaz (pictured left) finished with 14 points.

With the loss, the Raiders are 4-3 on the 2019-20 season.

Up next, CCC will take on North Iowa Area Community College at the Great Western Shootout at Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Friday. Tipoff is at 1 p.m.
