
The Central Community College Raider Softball team went 2-2 earlier in the week. A recap of the matches follows:
Game 1: Central 3 Vs. # 3 Des Moines Area CC 13
Offensively, Lily Krajewski, Jordyn Trotta, and Ava Steinke each collected one hit for CCC. DMACC was able to tally up 17 hits in the game against Shayla Sullivan. Jordan Sheridan and Krajewski both had RBIs as well in the 13-3 loss.
Game 2: Central 0 Vs. #3 Des Moines Area CC 11
Sullivan started in the circle again for the Raiders, giving up 11 hits in 3 and 1/3rd innings. Danica Taylor was able to get the solo hit for the Raiders. The Bears were able to get 15 hits their game 2 win.
Head coach Caitlin Simon says, "We had some injuries pitching wise & I was proud of Shay & Kami for taking on such a big task against a top 5 nationally ranked team. I know the scores didn't show it, but we made strides forward as a team during Mondays outing."
Game 1: Central 8 Vs. Concordia JV 6
The game was extremely back and forth. Concordia JV took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning 3-2. In the top of the sixth when Krajewski doubled, scoring one run, and Delaney Reeg singled, scoring two runs the Raiders took the lead 5-3. Concordia JV tied the game in the sixth inning and sent the game into extra innings.
In the eighth inning the Raiders were able to score three runs and break the tie and win. Kami Kaskie, Trotta, and Taylor all collected 2 hits. Reeg led the team with three runs batted in. Braelyn Sindelar earned the win for the Raiders surrendering nine hits and five runs over eight innings, striking out eight and walking five. The Raiders had zero errors.
Game 2: Central 11 v Concordia JV 10
CCC Raiders collected 15 hits, while Concordia JV had nine. Another battle in game two with the score going back and forth put the Raiders behind in the seventh inning and scoring on an error to take the lead 11-10.
Taylor had a hot bat, leading the team with four hits and three runs batted in. Claire Kreutzer, Steinke, Kaskie, and Reeg each collected multiple hits.
Sullivan earned the win giving up seven hits and eight runs. Sindelar collected the save holding off Concordia JV in the last inning.
Head coach Caitlin Simon says, "I am proud of the teams fight throughout these games. The defensive effort was exciting to see as well. We stress being aggressive and looking for that next play and we saw that Tuesday night."
