Softball: Four Graduates Headed to Next Level

Four Central Community College graduates who played softball for the Raiders are set to play at the next level. Addison Heule, Brianne Lawver, McKinna Moats and Andrea Palma have signed with four-year softball programs and will begin play in 2024-25.

Heule (pictured second from right) will play softball at the University of Sioux Falls and pursue a degree in sports psychology. She started every game in her two seasons at CCC and played each position except catcher and third base. Following the 2024 season, Heule was selected to the All-Region 9 Team and named Region 9 Defensive Player of the Year. She was also named as the Sertoma Female Student-Athlete of the Year, Academic Student-Athlete of the Year and received the Raider Rock Award.

"Addie is a perfect example of what it takes to be a student-athlete," said CCC head coach Caitlin Simon. "One of her best qualities that will make her successful at the next level is her leadership skills. I look forward to seeing her accomplishments over the next two years."

Following a record-setting career at CCC, Moats (pictured left) will continue playing softball at Doane University. She hopes to be a conservation officer and will work toward a degree in natural and environmental resources. Moats broke the season and career homerun records as well as the season and career RBI record. She ranks second on the leaderboard in career hits and double. Moats is a two-time All-Region 9 performer, an All-Region 9 Rookie of the Year nominee and was selected as CCC's Co-Female Athlete of the Year as a sophomore.

"We were very fortunate Moats chose to play softball at CCC and moving on, she would have been a great addition to any program," said Simon. "I'm excited to see her play on and stay close to home doing it."

Lawver (pictured second from left) will join Heule at the University of Sioux Falls and major in business administration. She transferred to CCC for her sophomore year and broke the Raiders' season doubles record with 20. Lawver made the All-Region 9 Team following the 2024 season.

"Bri was as great addition to our program this year," said Simon. "She brought a ton of experience to our outfield and batting lineup. Her competitiveness will be something that helps her succeed in her next two years of eligibility."

Palma (pictured right) will continue her academic and athletic career at Hastings College. Originally signed as a pitcher and hitter, Palma added outfielder to her resume. In two years, Dre emerged as one of the best hitters in the CCC lineup and was named to the 2024 All-Region 9 Team. She was also nominated for the team's Raider Spirit Award.

"Dre is one of the most consistent hitters I've coached during my time here at CCC," said Simon. "I think she's a great addition to Hastings College and can do a little bit of everything if needed."
