Men's Soccer: Raiders Pounce Panthers

The Central Community College men's soccer team defeated York College JV, 4-1, on Monday in York.

All was quiet on the scoring front until the 42nd minute when CCCs Jorge Moncibais scored off a Luis Ruiz assist for a 1-0 lead, which held through halftime.

Ten minutes into the second half, the Raiders increased the lead to 2-0 as Hamilson Vincente found the back of the net with Moncibais assisting. In the 65th minute, CCC's Nikola Ilic scored his first goal of the season with Kyle Thomas providing the assist for the 3-0 lead. Ruiz capped off the CCC scoring in the 78th minute with Moncibais notching his second assist on the day and the Raiders were up 4-0. The Panthers scored a late goal for the 4-1 final score.

CCC goalies Joao Victor and Chris Adame combines for five saves on the day.

"It was great to have some new players step up and play well for the team, and to get more offensive production out of a variety of guys," said CCC head coach Hawken Hanna. "Overall, it was another solid team win as we prepare for a competitive Region IX weekend coming up on Friday and Saturday."

With the win, the Raiders are now 5-1-1 on the 2019 season.

CCC will return to action on Friday against Northwest College. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at the Raider Soccer Complex.
