The Central Community College golf team went to Lincoln, NE to open up their Spring season. The Raiders competed in the Doane Spring Invitational at Highlands GC on Monday and Pioneers GC on Tuesday. A recap of the tournament is to follow:
The conditions on day 1 were pretty difficult with 25 MPH winds, and we saw Raiders put their heads down and grind out rounds of 79 for Jude Elgert, 80 for Spencer Knispel, 82 for Colby Sorensen, 83 for Steven Sladky, and 89 for Jack Edwards.
Day 2 saw a chilly start but the day turned into a gorgeous spring 70 degrees. The CCC Golf team shot a combined 16 shots better in the second round shooting a team 303. Elgert and Sladky shot 75s, Knispel with a 76, Sorensen with a 77 and Edwards with a 78. The Raider golf team finished in 9th place.
Head coach Sam Elgert says, "I was very happy with the start to our spring season. The first day, we didn't see the scores we wanted to see at all, but the guys buckled down the hatches and got to work on day 2 all shooting SUB 80 rounds and improving their team score drastically."
Mens Golf is back in action down in Kansas April 4-5.
