Golf: Doane University JV Invitational Recap

The Central Community College golf team finished in fourth place in the Doane University Junior Varsity Invitational at Pioneers Golf Course in Lincoln.

The Raiders posted a team score of 313 and Steven Sladky (pictured) carded a 73, which was also good for fourth place individually. CCC golfers Zachary Kissack and Nathan Oswald each finished with a 78 while Jude Elgert posted an 84. Carter Murphy recorded an 89.

CCC head coach Sam Elgert said the Raiders showed great toughness and mental strength given wind gusts of 25-30 miles per hour and a wind chill of 25 degrees.

"The team overall started a little shaky and it took our guys a couple of holes to get the hang of how the wind was playing," said Elgert. "Once we figured it out, we started to score better and better. This team's scores will continue to get lower and lower as the year goes on, and as we keep improving."

The Raiders return to action on April 1 and 2 at the Hesston Shootout in Hesston, Kan. The action tees off both days at 8 a.m. at the Hesston Golf Course.
