Men’s Basketball: Bulldogs Burst CCC’s Bubble

Concordia University JV's Jace Nelson scored a tip-in at the buzzer to lift the Bulldogs to a 78-77 win over the Raiders on Monday night at the Raider Fieldhouse.

CCC took a 77-76 lead with 1:04 to play on Aidan Graham's layup. Concordia's Ian Medeck missed a layup with 46 second remaining, preserving the Raiders' one-point lead. With the shot clock winding down, CCC's PJ Davis launched a three-point attempt which was no good and the Bulldogs secured the rebound with 16 second to go. With 1.8 seconds on the clock, Payson Gillespie's reverse layup was off the mark, Nelson grabbed the rebound and scored the winning bucket.

"We gave a good team too many second and third chances to come out on top," said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. "They did a great job crashing the offensive glass."

CCC sported four players in double figures with Davis leading the charge with 24 points. Graham finished with 14 points while Blake Daberkow (pictured left) and Maal Jal each scored 11 points.

The 16-11 Raiders will close out the regular season on Saturday with a road contest at Southeast Community College. The Raiders defeated the Bobcats earlier this month, 91-64, at the Raider Fieldhouse. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. in Lincoln.
