Men’s Basketball: Raiders Bust Broncos

The Central Community College men's basketball team defeated Hastings College JV on Tuesday night at the Raider Fieldhouse, 92-58.

The Raiders set the tone early with a 25-5 run over the first eight minutes en route to taking a 54-27 lead at halftime. The second half was more of the same for the Raiders as they led by as many as 36 points before posting the final score, 92-58.

"Minus the first few minutes of the second half, I thought our team played really well coming off of a long break," said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. "Our defensive effort against a very good shooting team was the reason we were able to get out to such a big lead early, and we did a great job of attacking the basket and getting paint touches all game long."

Trey Deveaux led three CCC players in double figures with 23 points. Blake Daberkow was right behind with 21 points while Jayden Byabato finished with 10 points.

"Trey and Blake were really good in the post and did a great job of finding the open man when Hastings brought double teams," said Ritzdorf. "Jayden was quite active on defense with six steals."

The win gives the Raiders a 10-5 mark heading into tonight's game against Concordia JV. The Raiders and the Bulldogs will meet at 6 p.m. at the Raider Fieldhouse.
