Men’s Basketball: Raiders Breakdown Beavers
Tredyn Prososki scored 22 points to lead the Raiders to an 82-61 victory over the Buena Vista University JV on Monday night at the Raider Fieldhouse.
Central nearly doubled up on the Beavers in the first half with a 49-25 advantage at halftime. The Raiders maintained the momentum in the second half to secure the 21-point win. CCC outrebounded Buena Vista, 44-29, including 16 offensive rebounds which led to a dozen second chance points. The Raiders also scored 12 points off 11 BVU turnovers.
"We played really well in the first half on both ends of the floor," said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. "We had a stretch in the second half where we got stagnant on offense, and I think that affected our defensive effort. Outside of that, I was really pleased with how we played, and how we've continued to improve over the last five games."
Kevin Cook (pictured) posted his ninth double-double of the season with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Dwight Glover Jr. scored 10 points while Derek Merwick scored seven points and hauled in 10 rebounds.
"Tredyn hit some shots and had a good night offensively and Kevin got us off to a great start with a double-double in the first half," said Ritzdorf. "Derek really played a great overall game. He pushed the tempo for us and got guys wide open looks all game long."
With the win, the Raiders are 14-7 on the season heading into Thursday night's clash at North Platte Community College. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.
