Men’s Basketball: Great Western Shootout Recap

The Central Community College men's basketball team split two games at the Great Western Shootout at Iowa Central Community College. A recap of both games is below. CCC is now 7-3 on the season and will return home on Monday night against Hastings College JV. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at Raider Fieldhouse.

Game 1 vs. North Iowa Area Community College

The Trojans remained undefeated with a 111-82 victory over the Raiders. NIACC has scored at least 100 points in every game so far this season. The Trojans also commanded the rebounding column, with a 56-37 advantage.

"We played right into NIACC's hands by trying to play in an up-tempo, fast paced game," said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. "Our game plan was to pick our spots to attack their pressure and then make it a half-court game whenever possible. But their pressure got to us and sped us up."

Nathan Frost led CCC in scoring with 19 points, while Tre'vion Crawford and Dwight Glover each scored 15 points.

Game 2 vs. Iowa Central Community College

Nathan Frost posted a double-double of 33 points and 14 rebounds as the Raiders rebounded in the second round of the Great Western Shootout. CCC posted an 87-70 win over the host Tritons.

"Nathan had a monster game," said Ritzdorf. "ICCC had no match for him today."

ICCC owned the first half and led 41-36 at halftime. CCC responded with a 51-29 triumph in the second half to take the 17-point victory.

Roman Behrens scored 23 points and dished out eight assists, while Tre'vion Crawford finished with 11 points.

"Overall really pleased with how we responded after a tough loss on Friday," said Ritzdorf.
