The Central Community College men's basketball team lost to Iowa Lakes Community College, 98-77, in the opening round of the Hawks Classic at Northeast Community College.

The Lakers set the tone early with a 16-5 run over the first three and a half minutes of the contest. The Raiders answered back with a 10-2 run to pull to within three, 18-15. Midway through the first half, CCC and ILCC were tied at 28 when the Lakers took control with a 22-1 spurt. ILCC went to the locker room with a 53-33 advantage.

CCC was only able to get as close as 17 points early on in the second half. The Lakers took advantage of 16 CCC miscues as they scored 26 points off turnovers.

Damien Marquez led the Raiders in scoring with 19 points, while Padyn Borders finished with 16 points.

With the loss, the Raiders dropped to 0-3.
