Knights Make It a Long Night for Raiders
Two North Platte Community College players combined to score nearly half of the team's points in an 86-52 win over Central Community College on Friday night. Diontae Champion recorded a team-high 22 points, while Godfrey Rolle tallied 20 points. Defensively, the Knights outrebounded the Raiders, 44-26, and limited CCC to 16 first-half points.
"The game against North Platte was a struggle from the opening tip," said CCC head coach Jerry Drymon. "We just couldn't make shots that we normally make with consistency. Credit NPCC's defense, but we need to make open three-point shots when they are available. I have no doubt that we will bounce back on Monday."
Two players scored in double figures for the Raiders. Logan Fleming scored a team-high 19 points, while Luke Cadzow scored 10 points.
The Raiders now have a record of 12-9 on the 2016-17 season. Up next, CCC will host Doane JV at 7 p.m. on Monday night at Raider Fieldhouse. The Raiders will participate in Coaches Powering Forward for Autism and during the game, Drymon and his staff will wear the official Autism Speaks blue puzzle piece to raise awareness and acceptance of autism spectrum disorders. Donations will also be collected during the game, which will be given to the Columbus Inclusive Playground initiative. The Columbus Inclusive Playground initiative is an effort to construct a community playground at Lost Creek Elementary School where all parts are wheelchair accessible, including an impact-absorbent accessible surface and shaded equipment, that caters to the physical, sensory and social needs of those who use it.
