eSports: Raiders Start Season Off Hot

The Central Community College eSports team started the season against last season's national championship contenders, Iowa Western Community College White.

CCC won the series in commanding fashion, defeating IWCC White 6-2 in the first map, followed by back-to-back 6-0 routs in the second and third map. Head coach Lucas Lumbra said this year's team of Jackson "Vexxprr" and Caleb "UnderCast" will be as strong as any seen at CCC over the past seasons.

"It is great to see our Call of Duty teams pick up where we left off at the end of last year, undefeated across both Tier 1 4v4 and 2v2 Gunfight exiting week 1 of NJCAAE regular season competition." said Lumbra. "After a long pre-season, we were more than ready to dive back in to competition. I have rarely had the privilege to work with groups as motivated as we are right now. The opportunity to defend two national championship titles has truly served to drive these talented students forward. It will come down to turning that motivation into results as we push to uphold our standard for success throughout the duration of the regular season."
