Volleyball: Kirkwood Invitational Recap

The Central Community College volleyball team went 1-3 at the Kirkwood Invitational. A brief recap of each match is below. The Raider are now 7-6 on the season. The Raiders will host a home match against Southeast Community College on Wednesday. The match starts at 7 p.m. at Raider Fieldhouse.

Match 1 vs. Parkland College

The Cobras swept the Raiders, 3-0. The final scores were 25-22, 25-18, 25-21.

Shania Borchers and Lydia Permenter each made seven kills, while Rylee Kwapnioski recorded 25 assists. Kamri Adler and Permenter each tallied a dozen digs.

Match 2 vs. Illinois Central College

The Cougars swept the Raiders, 3-0. The final scores were 25-16, 25-20, 26-24.

Maddie Walkowiak led the Raiders in kills with nine, while Kwapnioski logged 23 assists and 10 digs.

Match 3 vs. Lincoln Land Community College

The Raiders defeated the Loggers, 3-1. CCC took the opening set, 25-22, followed by Lincoln Land taking the second set, 27-25. The Raiders won the match by winning the final two sets – 25-18, 25-19.

Permenter was tops in kills with 12, while Kwapnioski collected 23 assists. Devyn Erickson finished with 22 digs.

Match 4 vs. Kirkwood Community College

The host Eagles swept CCC, 3-0. The final scores were 26-24, 25-17, 25-12.

Jordan Wegner made eight kills, while Kwapnioski totaled 14 assists. Adler led the way in digs with 14.

"We saw good competition this weekend and we got better," said CCC head coach Abby Pollart. "We blocked well this weekend and that was something we've been focusing on. This team has grown every week. We're excited to kick off region play this week."
