Volleyball: Raiders Sweep Hawks

The Central Community College volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 3-0 sweep over Northeast Community College at Raider Fieldhouse on Thursday.

The final scores read 25-21, 25-21, 25-10.

Abbe Mancuso posted 10 kills to lead the Raiders, while Maddie Davis dished out 35 assists. Davis also added 20 digs.

"We played well as a unit against Northeast," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "I thought our passers did an excellent job of keeping us in system on the first pass. Defensively, we touched a ton of balls that allowed us to generate offense. Maddie Davis did a tremendous job of distributing the ball to our hitters."

With the win, the Raiders finished the 2018 regular season with a mark of 18-18.

"It was really good to finish our regular season on a high note and especially with such a good team effort," said Young.

Up next, CCC will participate in the Region IX postseason tournament at North Platte Community College next weekend. On Friday, second seed North Platte will take on third seed Southeast Community College at 5 p.m. The winner of that contest will meet top seed CCC at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the losers of Friday's games will play at 11 a.m. The winner of that game will meet Friday night's winner at 1:30 p.m. If a fifth game is necessary, it will be played on Sunday at 1 p.m.
