Volleyball: Reiver Festival Tournament Recap

The Central Community College volleyball team went 1-3 at the Reiver Festival Tournament hosted by Iowa Western Community College. A brief recap of each match is below. The Raiders are now 17-17 on the season and will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 18, with a tri-meet at Raider Fieldhouse. CCC will battle Indian Hills Community College at 2 p.m. and Northeast Community College at 6 p.m. Indian Hills and Northeast will meet at 4 p.m.

Match 1 vs. New Mexico Military Institute

The Raiders gave the Lady Broncos an epic five-set battle before NMMI prevailed, 3-2.

CCC took the first set, 25-23, before the Lady Broncos dominated the second set, 25-8. NMMI claimed the third set, 25-15, followed by the Raiders keeping the match alive with a 27-25 win in the fourth game. In the decisive fifth set, the Lady Broncos won the match with a 15-8 victory.

Abbe Mancuso led the Raiders with 17 kills, while Rylee Kwapnioski dished out 37 assists. Jacie Laetsch and Maddie Davis were tops in digs with 17 and 16, respectively.

Match 2 vs. Iowa Lakes Community College

The Raiders shutout the Lakers, 3-0, in second round play. The final scores read 25-14, 25-8, 25-14.

Laetsch tallied 10 kills, Davis recorded 32 assists and Mallory Gotschall finished with a career-high 31 digs.

Match 3 vs. Mineral Area College

The Lady Cardinals shutout the Raiders, 3-0, in third-round action. The final scores read 25-19, 25-14, 25-11.

Laetsch led the way in kills with 12, while Davis delivered 25 assists. Ali Jones totaled 11 digs.

Match 4 vs. Colby Community College

In a battle of CCCs, the Trojans defeated the Raiders, 3-0. The final scores were 25-15, 25-13, 25-16.

Mancuso finished with 10 kills, while Davis recorded 19 assists. Gotschall posted 17 digs.
