Volleyball: Laetsch Leads CCC To The Top Seed

The Central Community College volleyball secured the top-seed in the Region IX postseason tournament with a 3-1 victory over North Platte Community College at Raider Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.

After watching the Knights take the first set, 25-22, the Raiders took three straight sets by the finals of 25-13, 25-18, 25-21.

Jacie Laetsch (pictured) had a solid performance with 15 kills, 17 digs, seven assisted blocks and four aces. Rylee Kwapnioski recorded 35 assists, while Maddie Davis tallied a team-high 25 digs.

"This was a big win for us," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "Our block was really effective in slowing down the North Platte offense, which really ignited our defense. I can't say enough about the play of Jacie Laetsch. She did everything for us in the match."

With the win, the Raiders are now 16-14 on the season.

Up next, CCC will take part in the Reiver Tournament this weekend hosted by Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. On Friday, the Raiders will meet New Mexico Military Institute and Iowa Lakes Community College at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively. On Saturday, CCC takes on Mineral Area Community College at 2 p.m., followed by Colby Community College at 4 p.m.
