Volleyball: Ramada Classic Recap

The Central Community College volleyball team went 3-1 in the Ramada Classic at Raider Fieldhouse over the weekend. A brief recap of each match is below. The 15-14 Raiders will return to Raider Fieldhouse on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. Region IX contest against North Platte Community College.

Match 1 vs. Southwestern Community College

The Raiders shutout the Spartans, 3-0. The final scores read 25-14, 25-20, 25-15.

Jacie Laetsch topped CCC in kills with 14, while Rylee Kwapnioski recorded 39 assists. Maddie Davis finished with 14 digs.

Match 2 vs. Cowley County Community College

The seventh-ranked Tigers survived a tough battle with the Raiders before claiming a 3-1 victory.

Cowley County won the first game, 25-11, while CCC evened the match with a 25-22 final in the second set. The Tigers took the third and fourth sets with finals of 25-22 and 25-23.

Jordee Korte and Laetsch each recorded 10 kills, while Kwapnioski distributed 33 assists. Davis logged 17 digs.

Match 3 vs. Bismarck State College

The Raiders opened Saturday action with a 3-0 sweep over the #13 Mystics. The final scores were 25-21, 25-22, 25-21.

Shania Borchers tallied nine kills to lead the Raiders, while Kwapnioski dished out 33 assists. Davis posted 21 digs.

Match 4 vs. Kansas City Kansas Community College

The Raiders closed out the Ramada Classic with a 3-1 victory over the Blue Devils.

KCKCC took the first game, 25-17, before CCC bounced back with three straight wins – 26-24, 25-17, 25-17.

Laetsch logged 15 kills, while Kwapnioski totaled 35 assists. Davis recorded 27 digs.

"It was a great to be home for a tournament and it was great weekend for the Raiders," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "We played Cowley tougher than the scores denote and beat KCK, a team that has been receiving votes in the national poll. We had great play from our pass line and our defenders, as well as all of our hitters. Rylee Kwapnioski did an excellent job of distributing the ball on offense to lead to our success."
