Volleyball: CCC Does Away With SCC

The Central Community College volleyball team recorded a 3-1 victory over Southeast Community College in Beatrice on Wednesday night.

The Raiders claimed the first set, 25-23, followed by the Lady Storm returning the favor in the second set, 25-18. CCC posted a 25-17 final in the third game and then took the match with dominating 25-10 performance in the final set.

Shania Borchers and Jacie Laetsch led the way in kills with 12 and 11, respectively. Rylee Kwapnioski served up 45 assists, while Maddie Davis logged 17 digs.

"It's always good to get a Region IX road win," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "We struggled to get into our offense off the first pass in the first couple of sets and it allowed Southeast to gain good momentum. Once we settled into our passing game, we were able to take control of the match and play much cleaner volleyball."

With the win, the Raiders are now 12-13 on the season.

Next, CCC will host the Ramada Classic at Raider Fieldhouse on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the Raiders will battle Southwestern Community College at 1 p.m. CCC will take on Cowley County Community College at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, CCC gets an early start with a 9 a.m. meeting with Bismarck State College. At 1 p.m., the Raiders close out the Ramada Classic with a match against Kansas City Kansas Community College.
