Volleyball: IWCC Sweeps CCC

The Central Community College volleyball team lost at Iowa Western Community College, 3-0, on Friday night.

The final scores were 25-7, 25-20, 25-15

"Iowa Western is a very physical and athletic team," said CCC head coach Mary Young. In the opener, we couldn't find a rhythm with any part of our game. In the second set, I was pleased with our ability to play hard. We blocked well and played with a lot more confidence and resiliency and were able to stay close. In the final set, we kept up with the Reivers, but then we had four service errors in a row, which broke any momentum for us."

Abbe Mancuso and Susie Vavra each totaled seven kills to lead the Raiders. Rylee Kwapnioski finished with 22 assists, while Jacie Laetsch logged seven digs.

"Physical teams like IWCC are going to earn their points and pose difficulties for their opponents to earn points," said Young. "I was proud of our players for playing hard. When you play hard against great teams, you get better. Despite the loss, we got better Friday night."

With the loss, CCC is now 9-7 on the season.

Up next, CCC will travel to McCook Community College on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match. The Indians sport an 8-4 record for the 2018 season following a 3-2 win over North Platte Community College last Thursday.
