Volleyball: MCC Sweeps CCC

The Central Community College volleyball team was swept by McCook Community College, 3-0, at Raider Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.

The final scores read 28-26, 25-22, 25-19.

Jacie Laetsch led the way in kills with 12, while Rylee Kwapnioski handed out 34 assists. Mallory Gotschall and Laetsch each logged nine digs.

"McCook is a much improved team and really plays with a lot of energy and firepower," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "Even with all of that, we had plenty of opportunities to take control of the match and didn't. We are a team that has a lot of growing pains. However, we believe that once we break through, we will really excel."

The Raiders are now 7-3 on the season and will take part in the Kirkwood Invitational this weekend in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On Friday, CCC will meet Sauke Valley Community College at 12 noon and Lincoln Land Community College at 2 p.m. On Saturday, the Raiders will take on Parkland College at 9 a.m., followed by Illinois Central College at 11 a.m.
