Volleyball: Raiders Off To A 1-0 Start

The Central Community College volleyball team recorded a sweep over Doane JV at Raider Fieldhouse Wednesday night. The final scores were 25-14, 25-15, 25-13.

Jacie Laetsch registered 13 kills, while Rylee Kwapnioski tallied 36 assists. Maddie Walkowiak logged seven digs.

"It's always great to open with a win, especially at home," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "It took us a little while to get into a rhythm but once we did, I thought our offense was effective. Rylee was steady in directing our offense and did a solid job of taking out of system balls and getting them to our hitters."

Young also gave props to the Columbus Campus community for a great lead in.

"Kudos to the CCC athletic department for engaging our fan base with the grill-out festivities prior to the match," said Young. "We had a tremendous crowd that provided a lot of energy for our athletes."

Up next, the Raiders will take on Northeast Oklahoma A&M and Baker University JV on Friday at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas. The matches get underway at 4 and 6 p.m., respectively.
