The Central Community College volleyball team improved to 11-0 by winning all four of its matches at the Northeast Community College tournament. A brief recap of each match is below. CCC returns to Raider Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept 6, to battle Southeast Community College.

Match 1: vs. Marshalltown CC

The Raiders dispatched the Tigers, 3-0. The final scores were 25-20, 25-18, 25-21. It was the Tigers' first loss of the season.

Jacie Laetsch hammered 14 kills and totaled 10 digs, while Amber Anderson had a dozen kills. Paxton Throne dished out 36 assists and Jessie Eurek totaled 20 digs.

Match 2: vs. Colby CC

The CCC Raiders handed the CCC Trojans their first loss of the 2017 season with a 3-0 victory. The final scores read 25-17, 25-20, 25-22.

Maeghan Pieper led the Raiders with 13 kills. Paxton Throne handed out 32 assists to go along with 10 digs. Jacie Laetsch logged 17 digs, while Maddie Davis served up a pair of aces.

Match 3: vs. Lake Region State College

The Raiders dispatched the Royals in four sets. CCC won the first two by finals of 25-13 and 25-18. Lake Region took the third set, 25-21. The Raiders ran away in the final set, 25-12.

Amber Anderson topped CCC in kills with seven, while Paxton Throne dished out 39 assists. Jessica Eurek finished with 13 digs.

Match 4: vs. Fort Scott CC

The Greyhounds gave the Raiders all they could handle before CCC emerged victorious in four sets. Fort Scott won the first game, 29-27. The Raiders then won the final three sets – 25-16, 25-21, 25-22.

Amber Anderson amassed 19 kills, while Paxton Throne recorded a season-high 52 assists. Jessica Eurek posted 16 digs.

"We ended the day with a quality win against a very good Fort Scott team," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "They had a potent offense and distributed the ball well. When you factor in their organization and effort on defense, it was really a great win for us. I thought Paxton Throne did a good job of distributing the ball and spreading the offense, while our defenders came in and passed very well and were able to get good touches on the ball on defense."
