Volleyball: Raiders Host the Central Invite

Raider Fieldhouse was a busy house this past weekend as the Central Invite took place. Central Community College welcomed Bismark State College (ND), Cowley County Community College (KS), Williston State College (ND) and Fort Scott Community College (KS). A recap of each match follows.

Match 1: vs. Bismark State College

The Raiders opened the Central Invite with a 3-0 sweep over the Mystics. The final scores read 25-12, 25-14 and 25-17.

Amber Anderson led CCC in kills with 15, while Riley Dorn totaled 42 assists. Sydney Yong was tops in digs with 16, while Dorn and Jessica Eurek each chipped in a dozen. Bismark State was led in kills by Hadley Rosales with seven, while Cassidy Wilhelm recorded 23 assists. Rosales added a team-high 12 digs.

Match 2: vs. Cowley County Community College

The 10th ranked Tigers got off to a strong start against the 8th rated Raiders, building a 14-point lead en route to a 25-14 win in the opening set. CCC evened the match in the second set with a 25-16 triumph. But Cowley County won the match with victories in the final two sets, 25-23 and 25-21.

Olivia Powell posted a team-high 14 kills for the Tigers, while Sydney Meget added 50 assists. Teryn Scott logged a match-high 32 digs. Keshia Ellwanger topped the Raiders in kills with 17, while Riley Dorn amassed 50 assists. Sydney Yong finished with 27 digs.

Match 3: vs. Williston State College

The Raiders swept the Tetons, 3-0, in the first match of day two of the Central Invite. CCC recorded finals of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-20.

Anderson led the way in kills for the Raiders with 12. Dorn finished with 31 assists, while Yong tallied 15 digs.

Match 4: vs. Fort Scott Community College

CCC closed out the Central Invite with a 3-0 sweep of Fort Scott Community College – 25-20, 25-14 and 25-22.

The Raiders were led in kills by Ellwanger with 14, while Dorn totaled 38 assists. Sydney Yong finished the match with 16 digs. Brette Moore led the Greyhounds with 10 kills, while Mickey Trimble recorded 28 assists. Katie Gorman logged 18 digs.

The Raiders are now 21-9 on the season and will return to Region IX play on Wednesday night with a home match against North Platte CC at 6 p.m. The Knights will come to town with a season mark of 9-18. The teams met in North Platte on September 22 and CCC was victorious, 3-1.
