For the second time this season, second-ranked Iowa Western shut out Central Community College, 3-0. The final scores read: 25-19, 25-15 and 25-22. However, CCC head coach Mary Young had an important takeaway.

"While the result of our match with Iowa Western isn't how we would have preferred it to turn out, we can take away some positive feedback from the loss and use it to strengthen our team as we move forward in the season," said Young.

The Raiders were led in kills by Keshia Ellwanger with 16. Riley Dorn was tops in assists with 26, while Sydney Yong finished as the leader in digs with 19.

Up next, the 15-6 Raiders will take part in the JCCC Challenge in Overland Park, Kansas, on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, CCC will meet Des Moines Area Community College at 4 p.m., followed by a 6 p.m. date with Kansas City Kansas Community College. On Saturday, CCC has a 9 a.m. start against Kirkwood Community College, and then at 11 a.m., the Raiders will take on the host Johnson County Community College Cavaliers.

"We play a great schedule this weekend at Overland Park against four ranked opponents," said Young. "Playing a physical opponent such as Iowa Western prepares us for the challenge of four ranked teams and we know it will serve us well."
