The Central Community College women's soccer team opened the season at home against Otero Junior College on Friday and Western Nebraska Community College on Saturday. A recap of both games is below.
Otero 3 CCC 0
The Rattlers scored their goals early on and held the Raiders scoreless the rest of the way.
"We came out against Otero very flat and very nervous and they put three goals on us before we even knew what happened," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "Then the girls settled down at halftime and play the way we can and should."
CCC 0 WNCC 0
The Raiders and the Cougars battled to a scoreless tie at Raider Field. Bennett praised his team for holding the opposition scoreless in the second half against Otero and in the entire game against WNCC.
"We didn't give up a goal in the last 135 minutes, so the defense is doing its job," said Bennett. "Now, it's time to work on the offense and do a better job of capitalizing on the chances we create."
The 0-1-1 Raiders will return to action on Saturday at Allen County (Kan.) Community College. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
Central was scheduled to host Hesston College at Raider Field on Wednesday. However, Hesston athletics has called off the game due to precautions related to COVID.
