Women’s Soccer: Late Surge Lifts NJC Past CCC

The Central Community College women's soccer team lost at Northeastern Junior College, 2-0, on Friday.

The contest was scoreless until the 80th minute when Northeastern's Fernanda Rios scored on a headshot off the assist of Rowan Hortsmeier for a 1-0 lead. Seven minutes later, Plainswomen forward Yadira Ramos scored a goal with Kennedie Brumbelow assisting to make the 2-0 final.

"We played really well and with 10 minutes to go," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "We just ran out of gas and ended up with the 2-0 loss."

CCC netminder Rachel Willette made seven saves on the afternoon, while Northeastern goalie Nohelia Pena collected a pair of saves.

The loss gives the Raiders a 5-4 record.
