Women’s Soccer: Sheridan Shuts Out CCC

The Central Community College women's soccer team was shutout by Sheridan College, 4-0, on Saturday at the Raider Soccer Complex.

The first half was a scoreless deadlock.

Four minutes into the second half, Sheridan's Holland McGuire scored the game's first goal off the assist of Margaret Hamilton to make it 1-0. Three minutes later, the Lady Generals made it 2-0 as Chelsea Thornburgh found the back of the net with Hamilton assisting. In the 58th minute, Sheridan's Elizabeth Pickett scored a goal with Hamilton collecting her third assist to make it a 3-0 advantage. Sheridan's Casey Wassum closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal for the final score of 4-0.

CCC goalie Bailey Keller faced 19 shots, making 15 saves.

"Sheridan College was a solid team and we played with them for the first 45 minutes and kept them to a scoreless half," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "However, their depth started to prove too much in the second half and we couldn't keep up with their speed and athleticism."

With the loss, the Raiders are now 3-2 on the season.

CCC will be back in action on Monday afternoon with a home contest against York College JV. On Sept. 27, CCC defeated York JV in York, 3-1. Monday's kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
