Women’s Soccer: CCC Suffers First Loss

The Central Community College women's soccer team lost its first game of the season with a 6-1 setback to Northeast Community College on Thursday.

The Hawks were aggressive from the start and posted goals in the 29th and 44th minutes of the first half for a 2-0 halftime lead.

The Northeast momentum continued in the second half as the Hawks scored in the 60th, 77th and 89th minutes for the 5-0 victory. CCC's Mei Hou scored a late goal, her second of the season.

"It was a tough day," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "With all of the injuries and sickness we've had this week, we just didn't have enough to keep up with Northeast. However, I give our girls credit for never quitting or getting down."

The loss gives the Raiders a 3-1 mark.

CCC will resume action on Saturday with a home contest against Sheridan College. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at the Raider Soccer Complex.
