Women’s Basketball: SCC Holiday Classic Recap

The Central Community College women's basketball team split a pair of games at the SCC Holiday Classic in Beatrice. A recap of each contest is below. The Raiders are now 6-8 on the season and will return to action with a home game against Little Priest Tribal College on Thursday. Tip-off at Raider Fieldhouse is set for 5:30 p.m.


Game 1 vs. Kansas City Kansas Community College

The Lady Blue Devils downed the Raiders, 74-59, in opening-round action of the SCC Holiday Classic. CCC trailed 31-29 at halftime, but was held to 30 points in the second half.

"I am very proud of how we competed against one of the top teams in the nation," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "We did a great job in the first half, but in the second they picked up their defensive pressure and caused up some trouble."

Isabel Diaz and Jasmine Williams each scored 13 points to lead the Raiders, while Monica Brooks scored a dozen points. Jayden Haag hauled in a game-high 11 rebounds.


Game 2 vs. Fort Scott Community College

The Raiders needed overtime to overtake the Greyhounds, 68-62. The game was close throughout and the score was tied at 59 at the end of regulation. CCC then outscored Fort Scott, 9-3, to post the win.

"It was a tough game all the way through and I am very proud that we pulled out the win," said Perkins. "I give a lot of credit to Fort Scott as they were shorthanded, but played really hard."

Monica Brooks, Isabel Diaz and Jasmine Williams each logged a double-double. Brooks scored a game-high 22 points to go along with 17 rebounds. Diaz scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, while Williams scored 13 points and collected a dozen boards.
