Women’s Basketball: Knights Beat Raiders To Win Region IX

CCC went scoreless over the final three minutes while NPCC rattled off a 13-0 run en route to a 68-60 victory in the Region IX Tournament title game at Raider Fieldhouse.

Maddie Davis put the Raiders up 60-55 with just over three minutes to play on her second three-point bucket. However, NPCC's Madisyn Francis' back-to-back three-point baskets put the Knights up for good, 61-60.

It was a game of runs with the Knights reeling off an 8-2 spurt to start the game before leading 17-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Raiders answered back with a 12-4 run to open the second period before NPCC put together a 12-2 run for a 33-23 halftime lead.

CCC owned the third period by outscoring the Knights, 23-7 to post a 46-40 advantage at the end of the quarter. The Raiders posted their biggest lead at 53-44 early on in the final stanza before NPCC went on to the victory.

"We just could not get anything going," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "North Platte did a good job staying aggressive on the boards and hustling."

Monica Brooks led five CCC players in double figures with 14 points. Isabel Diaz scored 12 points, while Day zchay lon Gardner and Alexis Ramaekers each scored 11 points. Davis finished with 10 points.

Following the game, Brooks and Gardner were named to the Region IX All-Tournament team.

The loss gives the Raiders a final mark of 10-15 for the 2018-19 season.

"I am proud of the team for getting better each day throughout the season," said Perkins.
