Women’s Basketball: Raiders Calm Storm

Monica Brooks' double-double helped lift the Raiders to a 66-55 win over Southeast Community College on Saturday in Beatrice.

Brooks scored 17 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in the 12-point victory.

The Storm outscored CCC in the first period, 18-10. The Raiders returned the favor by taking the second quarter by the exact score for a 28-28 tie at halftime. Following an even third period, CCC saved its best for last with a convincing 24-11 performance in the fourth quarter.

"This was a great win for our team and I am very proud of all of the players," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "The players prepared, executed and stayed together the whole game."

Two other CCC players scored in double figures. Alexis Ramaekers added 15 points, while Day zchay lon Gardner chipped in a dozen points.

The win is the second straight for the Raiders and gives them a 7-12 season record.

CCC returns to action on Monday night at home against Doane JV. The Raiders beat the Tigers last month in Crete, 70-46. Tonight's tip-off is set for 8 p.m. at Raider Fieldhouse.
